Abstrak

Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of library promotion on public reading interest in the Regional Public Library of Tidore Archipelago.

Methods: A quantitative research design was employed, involving 64 respondents selected through accidental sampling from library users and staff. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using Pearson’s product–moment correlation and t-test at a 99% confidence level.

Findings: The results indicate a very strong positive relationship between library promotion and public reading interest, as reflected by a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.980. The t-test results (t = 7.217 > t-table = 2.704) confirm that library promotion has a statistically significant effect on public reading interest.

Implications: These findings suggest that strengthening and optimizing library promotional strategies can significantly enhance public reading interest and increase community engagement with library services.

Novelty: This study provides empirical evidence on the role of library promotion in shaping public reading interest within a regional public library context, particularly in the Tidore Archipelago, which remains underexplored in library and information science research.
